annoying

people who say “I hate the snow. I hope it doesn’t snow.” You live in the north east. It is winter. It is going to snow at some point. If you don’t like it, move to the south.

But be prepared that when you move to the south and it get’s cold, everyone and their mother will say “you should be used to this, you’re from the north.”

Which is almost as annoying as the snow was in the first place.

Snow in the south is worse because the people there (& the towns/cities!) are less equipped to handle less snow than they are in the north. I remember my first year of college, I needed to go buy books from an independent book store a couple of blocks away from campus. The sky was gray and it was supposed to snow THAT NIGHT. All the stores were closed, with handmade signs in the windows that said “Closed for threat of weather.” I stopped by Whole Foods to get a snack and buy some milk, and it was as if they were preparing for an apocalypse because all of that perishable shit was rapidly selling out. I don’t even think we got a dusting of snow that night. Plus, no one can drive in it except for the people from the north (or other areas that get regular snow.)

In any case, I live in the north. I hate the snow and I hope it doesn’t snow. I also hate the cold. And I also hate (even more) anyone who points out that if I hate these things, I shouldn’t live here. Thank you, Sherlock. Those are just a handful of the reasons why I don’t want to live in the northeast anymore, but when you work in the magazine industry, New York City is generally the best place to live.
