When you share social media marketing ideas for a brand that you’re interviewing for, not get the job, and then see those ideas implemented across their platforms should you be pleased that you’re on target with good ideas that make sense for the brand?
Because I sort of feel that way. Then I feel a lot of WTF COME ON.
Life comes with many challenges. The ones that should not scare us are the ones...

last weekend was my five year college reunion. this time last week, i was already in durham. already with one of my best friends. already being loud and laughing and setting the stage for me to lose my voice by 9pm friday.
it’s strange: last monday, tuesday, and wednesday were so long. but this week has flown by. it’s like it was a blur (though i suppose last weekend WAS a blur).

As I watch the final eight minutes of the second episode of Hannibal (which I watched last night On Demand), I am realizing how effing bipolar my TV viewing must seem. Last night I jumped from Hart of Dixie to Hannibal. My main demographics are: shows for teenage girls (CW network, Awkward) and crime/dark/weird.

Get an airbrush spray tan on one of the most beautiful days of the year. Step outside. Sky opens up and downpours.
does anyone reading this know of any really cool, great, fantastic companies in san francisco or los angeles (ideally sf) (or maybe even here in nyc) that are hiring and might possibly be interested in someone with web production, editorial and social media experience?
i’m looking for a new job. i need a new job.

Do women who pee all over the toilet seat in offices and leave it also do the same in their own homes?
It’s just weird and gross.
SOMEONE WITH THE SAME TITLE AS ME JUST ASKED ME TO COPY AND PASTE AN ENTIRE COVER STORY FOR HIM SO HE WOULDN’T HAVE TO. (so he could then excerpt ~200 words from it.)
My response: Are you unable to copy and paste this yourself?
Proof I watch too much bad TV
I was in Duane Reade at the magazine stand, saw a copy of Playgirl, recognized the guy mentioned in a prominent cover line (Filly from Jerseylicious).
I need to reevaluate my life and watch Game of Thrones tonight rather than crap on the Style Network.
Wins of the Day
1) Yesterday I went to Bloomingdales and accidentally bought a pair of not-cheap jeans in the wrong fucking size since I was in a rush. I was going to order the pair I actually wanted online at night, to benefit from their sale, and return the other pair today. As I was about to hit ORDER, I saw an email that today Hautelook would have Citizens on sale. I didn’t buy. I was able to get the...

i thought that tonight i would write about a weird coincidence pertaining to soulcycle. i’m not. instead, i’m going to give a deserved moment of gratitude to my beloved bike #8.
today at work someone i work with called me an idiot. i’m still pissed about this, particularly because it’s not even close to being the first time where i’ve felt demeaned by the people i...

I find it really, really cool that European countries offer a whole mess of “career break” abroad programs (as evidenced by my Google search for programs not geared toward college students), and really sad that this is rare in the States.
((Apropos of me wanting to spend a chunk of time in South Africa at some point this year, probably sooner rather than later.))
This is the only noteworthy thing to come out of...

First work day of 2013
I forgot to bring a bra today.
It’s especially sad for two reasons: last night I tried to figure out the right bra to wear under the sweater and tested a couple, and also because it’s happened once before.
Semi-sad because my workout this morning wasn’t that serious, meaning my sports bra was totally fine to wear.
Not awful because it was one of those “daintier”...

Happy New Year, everyone!
Not even joking. If I didn’t loathe the phrase “Sorry I’m not sorry” so much, I feel here would be appropriate to use it.
Things I just asked
Do I need to put on makeup to interview an intern candidate?
(I never put on makeup after a morning spin class. What I really needed to do was brush my hair.)
Someone asked me what I plan on getting my boss for Christmas. I just laughed. Hard.

I have four e-mails in my inbox right now, but I’m aiming for that number to be zero…

I am a HUGE, huge fan of Inbox Zero. Seeing friends’ Gmail boxes with hundreds (or thousands) of unopened emails just baffles me.

Turning your Spotify session to private so people can’t see you listen to Ginuwine’s “Pony” thirty-seven times in a row.
Also: muting your iPhone in the office lobby, so people can’t accidentally hear you listening to “Pony” on repeat.
today
i knew today would be hard, but i never expected it to be the emotional roller coaster that it was. today i felt all of the emotions.
today i saw that we all have a breaking point (today was MY breaking point). today i finally understood what human resources does when you’re already an employee. today i became so indescribably overwhelmed with the love/support/care/good vibes of my friends...

RIP Zen outlook
Nice knowing you, peaceful frame of mind… it was a nice four days.
(If I didn’t have good leads today, I’d be full on Carrie Mathieson-breakdown-ing.)
This weekend was for relaxing — for finally being able to sleep and clear my mind and just completely shut down and turn off. For the first time in a while, I haven’t felt crushed by stress: what to do about my current job, what I want to do for the next one, etc. Maybe it’s because this weekend was also filled with taking edit tests, and thinking of GMATs, and talking to people...
a lunchtime of panic
just had a momentary anxiety attack, and while i don’t really want to discuss any sort of job hunt here, so be it:
for many reasons, i am looking for a new job. i want to do something in a totally different industry than my current one. in september when i was in san francisco, i met with a ceo and the head of marketing of this amazing social enterprise start up that i’ve read about...
I’m Facebook friends with this girl I lost touch with in college (after she went cray and later deactivated our sorority, but still found time to participate in those baby oil wrestling contests that Duke became infamous for). She’s pregnant, and is effing relentless with Facebook statuses about her pregnancy… asking questions, talking about the fetus about a million times a day,...

Why didn’t I think of this sooner?
I know it’s pretty much taboo to talk about a planner that isn’t made by Erin Condren on Tumblr, but it is worth mentioning that Moleskine planners will be in fun colors for 2013. I bought the purple, and now essentially have two 2013 planners: new purple one, and the 18 month black Moleskine I bought back in July to replace that godawful Erin Condren beast I hated so very much, and...
